Ashlyne's PACE progress chart

For the Accelerated Christion Education (ACE) curriculum, each grade is divided into 12 module packets. Ashlyne spends about 2 weeks to complete one module, and tackles a few at a time. She can only move on to the next module only when she has completed the previous one.

Like typical comprehension papers that we are familiar with, questions are set based on a selected text. If the answers are wrong, students are to review their work and redo the questions.

Recommendations

Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) Curriculum

ACE is the most common MOE-approved curriculum in use as the majority of homeschooling families are Christian. Light House Christian Academy is the official distance-learning provider.

The curriculum uses Scripture as its foundation, weaving biblical teachings into the content. It follows the mastery approach, where students need to display understanding of the subjects before they can move on to the next topic.

You can visit Ee Von's page for a video introduction of the ACE materials.

Life of Fred (Mathematics)

Life of Fred is a series of 25 books that cover math concepts up to unversity (calculus, linear algrebra and statistics). To begin, all your child needs to know is how to count, add and substract to 10.

Taught through stories of Fred teaching in Kittens University, this workbook encourages critical thinking - perfect for the child who hates repetitive math drills.

You can visit Michele's page for a video introduction of the Life of Fred series.

The Complete Writer series (English)

The Complete Writer series is a 12 year long curriculum that teaches your child essential writing skills. The workbook turns to classic texts like Alice in Wonderland and The Jungle Book to pique your child's interest and encourage them to think about how they write.

You never know, you just might see your child taking interest in classic literature not long after.

Ministry of Education's School Syllabus (Chinese)

There aren't many options available for Mother Tongue. Homeschooling parents we spoke to suggested referring to MOE's school syllabus for Mother Tongue languages. The books and teaching aids required can be found in major bookstores across the island.
